Cumberland House is owned by the Edwards family, who lived in it as a much loved family home for a number of years. They undertook extensive renovations to re-establish the historic feel of the property, whilst introducing new and modern conveniences. The restoration was completed in 2018 when Cumberland House was opened as a boutique guesthouse, where the family still enjoy spending as much time as possible.

Bram Coetzee.

Bram is local and grew up in the Eastern Cape, spending most of his childhood holidays in Port Alfred and the surrounding area. He first entered the hospitality industry whilst at university, and since then has owned and run his own restaurants, including for many years, the Brewery restaurant on Wharf street. With 35 years of experience, hospitality and cooking are still his great passions, and Cumberland House is delighted that Bram has come aboard as manager.

As well as the traditional breakfasts that Cumberland House offers to their guests Bram will be offering Lunch and Supper as well, making it the perfect get away for anyone looking for classic Eastern Cape hospitality in a beautiful setting.
